Downtown Detroit Parks
In 2021, the Downtown Detroit Partnership introduced free Wi-Fi in downtown parks and public spaces with Cronus, launching at Campus Martius Park, Cadillac Square, Capitol Park, Grand Circus Park and the Woodward Esplanade. The network combines fiber feeds from the Cronus network with fixed wireless transmitters across the parks.
The Detroit Riverfront
In 2022, free Wi-Fi came to Robert C. Valade Park and Cullen Plaza on the Detroit Riverwalk, provided by Cronus and funded by General Motors with the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, so visitors can stay connected along the river.
Neighborhood Parks
In 2023 and 2024, the City of Detroit, the Detroit Parks Coalition and Connect 313 brought free Wi-Fi and solar-powered charging stations to five neighborhood parks: Bradby, Chandler, Clark, McDuffy and Palmer Parks, with internet provided by Cronus. The project was supported by grants from the Detroit Pistons, the Rocket Community Fund and the Knight Foundation.
